Privacy Policy

Overview

Crack The Theory is a mobile app that prepares you for theory coding interviews. It is an educational tool, not professional or certified instruction.

This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the learning app and the API that powers it.

What we collect

Account: your email address (for sign-in codes), optional display name, and timezone.

Practice data: exercise and lesson completions, plan progress, gems balance, and reflections you save (exercise notes, experiment notes, and similar exercise artifacts).

Free-text reflections you choose to save are sent to our servers and encrypted at rest. Crack The Theory does not send them to an AI model provider.

Optional voice dictation: when you choose the microphone in a supported exercise, your device's speech-recognition service processes audio to create a transcript in the answer field. We do not receive or store raw microphone recordings on our API.

Notifications: if you opt in, an Expo push token and your reminder preferences (time and practice days).

Optional product analytics: only when UMAMI_SCRIPT_URL and UMAMI_WEBSITE_ID are configured for the deployment. The analytics script is disabled by default.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we use your data

To run the app: authenticate you, deliver the authored course path, save progress, and show your reflections back to you.

To send optional daily reminders you configure in onboarding or settings.

We do not use your reflections or course activity to train third-party AI models.

How we protect your data

Reflections and similar exercise artifacts are encrypted at rest on our database.

API access requires authentication. You can only read or change your own data.

In production, traffic between the app and API must use HTTPS.

Third-party services

We use service providers to operate the app, including hosting, database infrastructure, email delivery, optional product analytics, optional push notifications, and your device platform's speech-recognition service when you choose voice dictation.

The current Crack The Theory release does not use an AI model provider, advertising network, or in-app purchase provider.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active so you can continue your practice and review past reflections.

You can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account). That permanently removes your account and associated data from our systems, subject to short backup retention by our infrastructure providers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Account deletion in the app is the primary way to delete your data.

To ask a question about this policy or your data, contact us at the support email listed on our website or app store listing.

Children

This app is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at this URL and update the "Last updated" date above.
